Resulting from field investigation over the past years it shows, that modern restraint systems can clearly improve the manner, number and severity of injuries sustained.
Not only the occupant load in Out-of-Position (OoP)–situations, which are currently being reduced by statutes in the USA, but also demographic changes still create injury patterns which are often caused by restraint systems.
The restraint systems currently on market are merely able to consider the vehicle- and occupant condition until right before the crash. To date no restraint system interferes with the protective mechanism for the vehicle occupants.
The seatbelt as the main component for the degradation of energy is always tightened but the for the reduction of the occupant load immensely important belt-load limit is up to now extremely deficient adjustable.
It is our development target to clearly improve this condition by exteriorizing the occupants in the best possible way for each situation so that they will experience the ideal degeneration of energy. For OoP–situations as said above we develop new, self-adjusting mechanisms, which can influence the process of the restraint systems before a critical situation arises, using well-thought-out evaluation algorithms.
